2006
A mild spring with slightly above average rainfall saw the vines flowering and setting fruit in the last week in November, slightly earlier than an average season, but then hot periods experienced through November, December and January accelerated vine development to see the grapes begin ripening in the last week of January; the earliest on record.
A cool and wet February, however, slowed their development to create an even ripening pattern to allow us to harvest well-balanced fruit in the last week of March. The season still, however, produced the earliest vintage that anyone in Coonawarra could remember. Regardless of this, excellent fruit depth and tannin ripeness was achieved.
