Burke Reschke, Managing Director, Reschke Wines

Since completing a postgraduate degree in Advanced Agribusiness Management from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, England, Burke went on to trade futures at the London International Financial Futures Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange and then ran a trading booth in the Standard & Poor pit at the Chicago Mercantile Futures Exchange before returning home to Coonawarra.

Burke took about changing the Reschke estate from a cattle property, selecting ideal soil types to be developed into vineyards. The demand for the resultant fruit throughout the nineties was used in some of Australia's Icon wines.

In 1998 a selection of the most outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon parcels was released under the Reschke 'Empyrean' label.

Peter Douglas, Winemaker

The Reschke attention to detail flows through to the winemaking with the highly respected Peter Douglas, diligently crafting the wines. Peters brings to Reschke a passion to create wines that are unique and that embody the perfect balance between the outstanding quality of Reschke fruit, the Coonawarra terroir and his uncompromising winemaking techniques.

Peter spent 16 vintages as Chief Winemaker for 'Wynns Coonawarra' (Southcorp). As one of Southcorp's senior winemakers Peter was tagged 'Mr. Wynns' and was responsible for making a string of acclaimed wines that are still highly sought after and valued by collectors. Since Wynns he spent several vintages in Bordeaux with 'Chateau Leoville Barton', in the Napa Valley with 'Constellation Wine Group' and in both Sicily and Tunisia with 'Casa Vinicola Calatrasi' and 'Puglia' before returning home to Coonawarra in 2001.

His first project with Reschke Wines was the completion of the 2001 Vitulus Cabernet Sauvignon. It didn't take long for the inaugural release of the Vitulus brand to sell out.

Mary Kennedy, Viticulturist

Initially trained in Agriculture from the University of Melbourne, Mary joined Reschke Wines in October 1999 after a years' stint as Trainee Technical Officer at Mildara Blass (Wrattonbully).

To begin with Mary managed Reschke's Coonawarra office but the lure of the outdoors and her passion for viticulture pushed her from the office, back to university and into the vineyard and her role soon evolved to Head Viticulturist.

Mary is responsible for the management of 360 acres of vineyard comprising mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon but also a selection of Merlot, Shiraz and Petit Verdot. Mary brings to Reschke a commitment to superior viticulture practices ensuring the vines always produce the most outstanding fruit. Mary graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Viticulture) and has recently started up her own viticulture consultancy business 'Grapevine Consulting'.
